The new Living Room

Hello All,

I know, it’s been a ridiculous amount of time since I’ve been on!! So much has happened we moved flats in December, our camera broke and our phone broke so we were photoless for a few months and to put the icing on the cake Yusuf has been ill on and off! But everything is good now. It’s a little bit manic still working on sorting out the boys room and playing catch up trying to pay everything!

But… our new place is lovely. The sitting room/ kitchen is open plan. We have a balcony and a shower, things which we didn’t have in the old flat. The boys are so much happier they have a lot of open space to play around. On the subject of the boys they are doing great. Yusuf had has 1st assembly to which Mummy attended and she was very proud indeed. Zakariyah is growing up fast, becoming a cheeky chap but very funny also.

Also our computer has been broken for sometime now, so try and use Family/ Friends! So it has been a manic few months with many things breaking but a new start for the family!

Morning All,

It has been a manic few weeks. About 4 weeks ago Yusuf had a tummy bug. So my attention was mainly on him and looking after his brother! Once he got better from that (took about 3 weeks) he went back to school. Only about 2 days after he got a bad cough so was back at home!! After that on a bright note, we moved into a beautiful new flat on Saturday so life is chaotic at the moment!

The new flat is great though, when we buy a new camera we will take some pics and put them up. It has so many benefits. Firstly once we have decorated the room, the boys will have their own bedroom. Secondly it’s a new building so apart from the boys room doesn’t need any decorating! Thirdly we have a shower, in the old flat there was not enough hot water pressure in the bath to take a shower. Lastly we have more space, we loved having Nanny live with us but it was cramped and we need to concentrate being a family. Now when we get a chance we can get a table and chairs to eat at. We never had room before as all the toys were in the living room! We are looking forward so much to sitting down together as a family at dinner times. It’s such a simple thing but can make such a difference to eating time.

Anyway that’s enough from me for today. Not sure when I will be back on, but I will be back soon!

Review of Priddy Books

First 100 Trucks Board Book

In our house we love reading books, so were very pleased when we got a chance to review for Priddy Books. A lovely lady at Priddy Books sent us 2 books. This was the book for Zakariyah. It’s suitable from birth and like the other book we loved the vibrant colours. Zakariyah really enjoyed looking at this and we can’t wait to see him saying the different types of trucks when he starts talking more. Sadly our camera is broken, but there was a lovely moment when Yusuf sat down and read the book with his brother showing him the different types of trucks. This book is a bargain at £3.99.

Let's Pretend Builder's Tool Kit

This book is Yusuf’s. It is a board book which let’s you pretend to be a Builder. It has pieces which you insert into the correct place. Mummy and Yusuf really enjoyed doing this. Zakariyah also had a lot of enjoyment with this book, it must have been the bright colours! He kept running off with the pieces!! This book retails at £10.99 we think this is a great price for a lovely board book. We received both books in a Priddy Books bag, which Mummy now takes with her everywhere! Review of Dora The Explorer Enchated Forest Adventures DVD

Morning All,

Thanks to the fantastic Louise at Rock and Roll Baby World, we received a Dora The Explorer Enchanted Forest Adventures DVD to review. The DVD itself came in a lovely backpack box with some stickers and colour sheets. The thing that we love about Dora is that it is suitable for both boys and girls. Our oldest is a real boys boy but Dora is one programme that he will watch. Both ouf our boys don’t watch Dora all the time, but when they do it really gets their attention and sometimes we can get rare moments of peace whilst they watch!!

In this episode of Dora The Exlplorer Enchanted Forest Adventures, Dora is in a magical world ruled by Unicornio the Unicorn King. Dora, Boots and friends help get Unicornio back as King when an owl takes over and sets up some mean rules!

The DVD features 3 parts: Part 1 Tale of the Unicorn King, Part 2 Secret of Atlantis and Part 3 Dora Saves King Unicornio. The full 3 parts will be shown on Nick Jr on Friday 25th November at 4pm and Sunday 27th November at 12pm.

Review of The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys Christmas Cupcakes

Fabulous Bakin Boys Christmas Cupcakes

Morning All,

Our family is very partial to sweet things as a treat. The biggest culprits being Mummy and Yusuf! Thanks to the lovely people at Bottle PR, we were sent a pack of Fabulous Christmas Cupcakes Chocolate Orange flavour. There are 2 dark chocolate, 2 milk chocolate and 2 white chocolate.

Myself and Mummy managed to taste before Yusuf got his hands on the rest! I had the dark chocolate and Mummy had a milk chocolate one. We both thought they were yummy, I found the topping quite sweet but I think it was just to Mummys liking! As for Yusuf over 2 days he finished the remaining 4 with poor Zakariyah (our 1 year old) quickly grabbing any bits that Yusuf dropped!! Yusuf would have finished them off a lot quicker if we would have let him! His comments were “Yummy Yummy” and “I like the icing!!”

The Christmas Cupcakes come in 2 flavours: Mint Chocolate and Chocolate Orange. There are 6 in a pack and they are individually wrapped so perfect to pop in a stocking. Review on I Don’t Know How She Does It Book by Allison Pearson

This is a guest post from Mummy. I’ve finally finished I Don’t Know How She Does It. Hooray! That fact sums up the jist of the book as like Kate Reddy the character, my time is limited though not to the extent of Kate’s! The only time I got to read this book was my journey to and from work on the tube, when I could get a seat!! I really enjoyed this book and I am rather sad it’s finished!!

Kate Reddy is a working mother of two children (just like me!) Her job is a lot more demanding than mine and it often requires her to leave the country. Although our lifes are very different they are similar in a few ways. The first similarity is that she is always trying to remember what she needs to do/buy/arrange! sometimes as humans do she does forget little things. The other similarity is sometimes feeling overwhelmed to how much we as working parents miss our children. At the same time finding the weekends such a big difference to the week and wondering if we will ever get used to how much attention and time the kids want! But of course we love it! There are a lot of times in the book where Kate feels sad/guilty that she in not at home full time, which I also feel a lot!

The big difference between myself and Kate is that her husband/ the kids Daddy also works. Not the demanding hours that Kate does and he does not need to work abroad. I often felt that Kate did not give Richard the credit he deserves. My other half/ Daddy to the boys does even more than what Richard does and I always let him know how much I appreciate him and what he does. I don’t think that she ever meant to be like that just feeling frustrated at working so much and also being busy constantly at home. But the great thing is that at the end of the book she does realise that she takes him for granted, I loved the ending I’m not going to give it away but it is quite a Fairytale Ending in my opinion.

This is a great read for anybody, but I find that someome who is in a similar position whether female or male will find it a lot more interesting. I often read the book and I would say to myself “Wow, me too!” I would love to see the film to see how it compares as people always say the film can never be better than the book!

Yusuf’s 4th birthday!

Morning All,

We had a great weekend, on Sunday was Yusuf’s birthday. We had Aunty and nieces and nephew round. Granny was round too and Uncle Mahdee. We bought Yusuf a DSi and 3 DS games. Granny got him 2 DS games and Uncle Mahdee got him a game. So Nanny is getting Yusuf a beanbag chair to sit and play on! Aunty got Yusuf two board game, Twister and I can’t remember the name of the other one. Thanks again to the great Free Cakes UK, who supplied us with a srummy cake.

The downside of the birthday is we were photoless! We discovered on the Saturday that our belved camera had broken. Someone had dropped it we don’t know the culprit! So we was going to use Uncle Mahdee’s iphone which started off great, got some lovely pictures. Later on in the evening his phone broke, it seems some water got in it!! Plus we both had Blackberrys and they have been broken for some time. Mummy is quite sad that we son’t have any photos from Yusuf’s birthday but there was absoultely nothing we could do about it.

Well I’m off now dropped Yusuf off at school and have the day with Zakariyah. He is doing all sorts now, opening the fridge, freezer, oven!! Climbing everywhere he is very inquisitive to say the least.

Review of Pirates Sticky Mosaics

Morning All,

Thanks to Stephanie at Orb Factory we received a set of Pirates Sticky Mosaics to review. We got this a couple of weeks ago but have never found the time with the babies not around as there are small pieces. Mummys sister had a housewarming party so with plenty of people around she thought this would be a good opportunity to use it. You get 4 scenes and lots of numbered sticky bits. On each scene there are numbered parts and you put the stickers on the right numbers.

This set is for ages 5+ and that is why the boys cousin Maya enjoyed it the most as she is 5 years old. She really enjoyed doing it and it is at the age where she wants to be very creative. She also had more patience and didn’t get bored of it. Mummy thought it was great fun and lets kids be creative and imaginative. Since Maya enjoyed it the most we let her keep it and and she was very pleased about that. This particular set is $16.99. Half Term Week

Morning All,

Well just a quick one to say how the half term is going. It has not been too bad actually just wish the weather would cheer up a bit. We have been at home playing except for on Tuesday Yusuf went with Nanny to Aunty’s house. Not really up to much today but it will be a nice day anyway. On Saturday Mummy will be taking the boys to Aunty’s house. They are having a housewarming party, but as with anyone with kids it’s going to be in the day. Next Sunday will be Yusuf’s 4th birthday! Mummy ordered a DS for him a couple of weeks ago which we are still waiting for! We have got a Mario/Luigi case for him and already got his birthday card. We all can’t wait!

Review of Sainsbury’s Chocolates

Sainsbury's Chocolate

Morning All,

I don’t think there are many people out there who would turn down chocolate. So when the lovely people at Sainsbury’s asked if we would like to review some chocolates we thought it would be rude to refuse! We were sent 5 big bars of chocolates: Smooth White Chocolate, Turkish Delight, Smooth Dark Chocolate, Wholenut Dark Chocolate and Smooth Milk Chocolate.

What we thought: Our favourite was the Wholenut Dark Chocolate, that tends to usually be my favourite. Mummy thought it was a lot less bitter than what she is usually used to with Dark Chocolate. Yusuf’s favourite was the Milk Chocolate followed by the Dark Chocolate and the Wholenut Dark Chocolate minus the nuts as he doesn’t like nuts! We gave the Smooth Dark Chocolate to Granny as a birthday present from the boys. She said “All dark chocolates should be like this, not too rich” We gave the Turkish Delight one to Nanny as we don’t like Turkish Delight she said “It was nice, I would have prefered more Turkish Delight in the chocolate!” Overall we were impressed with the chocolates they tasted just as good as the more expenisve brands out there.
