Review of Hallmarks Abigail and The Balance Beam Story Buddy
Afternoon All, told you I would be on!!
Thanks to the lovely people at Hallmark for sending us a Hallmarks Abigal Story Buddy for our niece to review. Maya is 6 years old and a very good reader. We were sent a Watson The Story Buddy to review before and the boys loved it. Maya loved her Abigail even more as she is old enough to read herself. The great thing about Story Buddies, is that you read the story and the character reads the highlighted parts.
Firstly Maya attemped reading the book in the living room. This as we expected was not succesfull as you need to be in a quiet room for the character to respond and we had a houseful. So at first Maya went in a quiet bedroom and after reading the book, ran back in and said “It works, she talks!” Then she took Yusuf in the bedroom and read to him and Yusuf came in and told us all that “She talked” excitedely. Then the last audience member that Maya got was Nanny. Nanny absoultely loved it, she came back in and said “That’s fantastic, I wouldn’t mind one for myself.”
We love the Story Buddies and think they are great for a range of ages (including Adults that are big kids!!!) Priced at £19.99 in Hallmark stores and at www.Hallmark.co.uk. Additional books for Abigail are also available from the same outlets priced at £5.99 each. More character members will be added to the gang this year.
Disclosure: We received a Abigal Story Buddy (character and book) to review. This is the opinion of myself and family. We are not paid for this post.
Review of Priddy Books
1 Dec
In our house we love reading books, so were very pleased when we got a chance to review for Priddy Books. A lovely lady at Priddy Books sent us 2 books. This was the book for Zakariyah. It’s suitable from birth and like the other book we loved the vibrant colours. Zakariyah really enjoyed looking at this and we can’t wait to see him saying the different types of trucks when he starts talking more. Sadly our camera is broken, but there was a lovely moment when Yusuf sat down and read the book with his brother showing him the different types of trucks. This book is a bargain at £3.99.

Review of Dora The Explorer Enchated Forest Adventures DVD
24 Nov

Morning All,
Thanks to the fantastic Louise at Rock and Roll Baby World, we received a Dora The Explorer Enchanted Forest Adventures DVD to review. The DVD itself came in a lovely backpack box with some stickers and colour sheets. The thing that we love about Dora is that it is suitable for both boys and girls. Our oldest is a real boys boy but Dora is one programme that he will watch. Both ouf our boys don’t watch Dora all the time, but when they do it really gets their attention and sometimes we can get rare moments of peace whilst they watch!!
In this episode of Dora The Exlplorer Enchanted Forest Adventures, Dora is in a magical world ruled by Unicornio the Unicorn King. Dora, Boots and friends help get Unicornio back as King when an owl takes over and sets up some mean rules!
The DVD features 3 parts: Part 1 Tale of the Unicorn King, Part 2 Secret of Atlantis and Part 3 Dora Saves King Unicornio. The full 3 parts will be shown on Nick Jr on Friday 25th November at 4pm and Sunday 27th November at 12pm.

Review on I Don’t Know How She Does It Book by Allison Pearson
Morning All,
This is a guest post from Mummy. I’ve finally finished I Don’t Know How She Does It. Hooray! That fact sums up the jist of the book as like Kate Reddy the character, my time is limited though not to the extent of Kate’s! The only time I got to read this book was my journey to and from work on the tube, when I could get a seat!! I really enjoyed this book and I am rather sad it’s finished!!
Kate Reddy is a working mother of two children (just like me!) Her job is a lot more demanding than mine and it often requires her to leave the country. Although our lifes are very different they are similar in a few ways. The first similarity is that she is always trying to remember what she needs to do/buy/arrange! sometimes as humans do she does forget little things. The other similarity is sometimes feeling overwhelmed to how much we as working parents miss our children. At the same time finding the weekends such a big difference to the week and wondering if we will ever get used to how much attention and time the kids want! But of course we love it! There are a lot of times in the book where Kate feels sad/guilty that she in not at home full time, which I also feel a lot!
The big difference between myself and Kate is that her husband/ the kids Daddy also works. Not the demanding hours that Kate does and he does not need to work abroad. I often felt that Kate did not give Richard the credit he deserves. My other half/ Daddy to the boys does even more than what Richard does and I always let him know how much I appreciate him and what he does. I don’t think that she ever meant to be like that just feeling frustrated at working so much and also being busy constantly at home. But the great thing is that at the end of the book she does realise that she takes him for granted, I loved the ending I’m not going to give it away but it is quite a Fairytale Ending in my opinion.
This is a great read for anybody, but I find that someome who is in a similar position whether female or male will find it a lot more interesting. I often read the book and I would say to myself “Wow, me too!” I would love to see the film to see how it compares as people always say the film can never be better than the book!
Disclosure: We were given a copy of I Don’t Know How She Does It by Allison Pearson for reviewing purposes. This is Mummy’s opinion!

Review of Hama Beads
18 Oct
Morning All,
When we saw a tweet asking if anyone wanted to review some Hama beads we thought it would be a nice idea. We have never come across Hama beads before so this was new to us. The lovely Merry asked us to pick a set so as Yusuf is a big Toy Story fan we picked that one. We decided to use the set on Sunday whilst the footie was on to keep Yusuf entertained. So Mummy and myself told Yusuf that we had a surprise for him (we had kept the box hidden!) He was very excited as we knew he would be especially knowing that it was Toy Story.
The idea of Hama Beads is that you get a pegboard and you place the beads on the pegboard. You can either make your own design or follow the pictures. Once the character is finished you put an irorning paper and iron and then you can take the piece out. All the items are provided in the box. Now as Mummy had to do most of the design (Yusuf wanted to do Buzz Lightyear) we didn’t get to finish it, as it’s hard when you have another 1 year old that is running around! But what Mummy did get to do looked great. We wanted to take a picture this morning of what Mummy and Yusuf did so far. But this morning Yusuf took it upon himself to pour all of the beads back in the container and say “We will do it again today!!”
We think that Hama Beads is a great concept. I think we will enjoy doing it with Yusuf even more as he gets older as the beads are small and when he was picking them up he was dropping them a lot! But Mummy really enjoyed doing it and Yusuf was watching intently and enjoyed seeing Buzz look more like him as they went along.
We have had a look at Merrys’ website and we think it has some great items especially with Christmas coming up. They not only stock Hama Beads but Jewellery Making, Mosaic Craft Kits to name a few. So head on over there http://www.craftmerrily.co.uk/section/15/1/hama-beads The prices are very reasonable we think. The set we had was only £13.95. Also take at look at Merrys’ own blog which has loads of great ideas for Hama Beads: http://www.patchofpuddles.co.uk/archives/category/hama-beads
Disclosure: We were sent one box of Toy Story Hama Beads to review. This is the opinion of myself and the family.

Review of school shoes from Shoezone
5 Oct
Thanks to the lovely Claire who blogs over at http://ninjakillercat.blogspot.com/ who was looking for people to review some school shoes. Here is what we thought of the shoes:
The shoes look really lovely. Yusuf has another pair of school shoes from a very popular shoe shop especially for kids. We prefered these, they looked nicer and felt a lot lighter which is good when your thinking of an energitic almost 4 year old on the go all day!! Yusufs’ take on the shoes was: “Daddy am I wearing the top quality shoes today?!” I promise that these words were on his own behalf (top quality is a popular thing with him at the moment!!) We think coming from a 4 year old that says quite a lot.
Disclosure: We were sent one pair of School shoes from Shoezone via Claire for reviewing purposes. This is purely the opinion of myself and our oldest son!
Review of Stich Baby & Kids Pyjamas (Part 1)
4 Oct
Morning All,
When we saw a tweet asking if anyone wanted to review kids pyjamas we couldn’t have responded quick enough. Tracey at Stich Baby & Kids asked us to pick out 4 pyjamas which was so kind of her. We picked 2 pairs for each of the boys. For Zakariyah we picked: Panda and Rockets. For Yusuf we picked Lions and Super Fly.
The pyjamas are such great quality. The colours are very vibrant and we all thought that the boys look very cute! What we really loved is that especially since we were having some hot weather that some of the sets of pyjamas have t-shirts. The Super Fly pyjamas have shorts which is great for Yusuf because even when it’s a bit chilly he’s ‘hot!’
Stich Baby & Kids not only stock Pyjamas they also do onesies & rompers and T-Shirts. All of the pyjamas are on sale at the moment at $12.00 each. The shipping to UK is charged at $20 flat rate shipping & handling. It takes between 1-3 weeks to arrive, our package took a week but it would vary. We really liked the pyjamas and if you like what you see have a peek at the website: http://www.shopstich.com.au/
In the next couple of days I will post pictures of the other 2 pairs we received.
Disclosure: We were sent 4 pairs of pyjamas for reviewing purposes. Anything I have written is my opinion.

Review of Teas Me (Loose Tea) – from Squeeze Me Juice
15 Sep
Morning All,
We received this lovely package from Squeeze Me Juice yesterday and as all the household are good tea fans we couldn’t wait to try them! We were sent three flavours to try: Earl Grey, Good Morning Sunshine and Simply The Zest. Yesterday evening as the day was winding down we was all (Myself, Yvette my partner and my cousin Mahdee) in need of a nice cup of tea. Yvette decided to try the Earl Grey so we all had one. The aroma and the freshness of the tea was amazing! We all really enjoyed it. The only thing to note is that as we like milk in our tea and we like it quite strong so the next tea we brewed for a bit longer.
This morning Yvette made another tea for me as I was preparing to start my day with the boys! We thought Good Morning Sunshine would be the most appropriate for a kickstart to the day! Personally I prefer the Earl Grey, Earl Grey has always been my favourite but Good Morning Sunshine is pleasant and it did make me feel a little more human!!!
I would recommend Teas Me to anybody who really appreciates great tasting fresh tea. The other flavours of their tea are: Builders Blend, Come to bed, Good Morning Sunshine decaff, After dinner mint and Sweet chai of mine. They are £3.99 each. If you want to find out more visit: www.squeezemejuice.co.uk
Disclosure: I do not work for Squeeze Me Juice. They sent us 3 samples for reviewing purposes. This review is the honest opinion of myself and the family.
Review of Galt Toys Home Learning Books
14 Sep

Morning All,
Well, we are busy this week! Thanks to the Lovely people at Galt Toys, we were luck enough to review their Home Learning Books. They sent us The Colour Shapes and Sizes and First Writing Sticker Books. We love reading in this house and it’s even more great when there are activities to do. As Mummy works, she set aside some time with Yusuf who is 4 in November to do some activities.
Mummy and Yusuf only went through The Colour Shapes and Sizes book as the First Writing Book is for ages 4+ and we want to wait a couple of months before we introduce him to that one. Both of them really enjoyed the book, there was so many activites to do: counting, identifying different colours, shapes, putting stickers in the right places and colouring! We were really impressed with the books and the colours are lovely and bright.
Here is a page of Yusufs’ handywork!:
Review of Olive The Ostrich
13 Sep
Good Morning,
Thanks to the lovely Louise @ Rock and Roll Baby World and Nick Jr we were sent a Olive The Ostrich Pack. The pack contained a DVD with 2 episodes and stickers and a poster. Nick Jr is one of the main channels that its on in our household. For a couple of weeks Yusuf has seen the adverts for Olive The Ostrich and asking “When is it on?!”

Olive the Ostrich is a lovely programme with Rolf Harris as the Narrator. When Olive buries her head in the sand she goes on adventures, somewhere new in each episode. It also features artwork from schools across the UK at the end of each episode which we all noticed.
Yusuf enjoyed the programme and instantly recognised Olive when we showed him the pack! When he watched he did not move much, (which is quite a big thing for him!) I think it helps that the the programme is not too long so the child does not get distracted if it goes on for too long. Mummy forgot the poster at work as she could not fit it in her bag!!! We will show it to him tonight Mummy is sure he will like it. The stickers went on our fridge straight away!
There is a small microsite which has an Olive The Ostrich section and the kids can create pictures on there. The link is http://www.nickjr.co.uk/olive-the-ostrich/
Olive The Ostrich is on weekdays at 8:15 am and 6:30 pm only on Nick Jr. (Sky 615, Virgin 715 and TalkTalk 318)
Disclosue: I received a Olive The Ostrich Pack, which contained a DVD, stickers and poster. This is not a paid post. This is purely the opinions of myself and the family.
Happy Birthday Postman Pat DVD Review
2 Sep
Afternoon All,
Postman Pat is approaching his 30th birthday believe it or not! To celebrate a limited edition Happy Birthday Postman Pat will be released on the 12th of September.
When we was offered the chance to review Postman Pats’ Birthday DVD we jumped at the chance. Since Yusuf was around 2 years old he grew a love for Postman Pat. So the lovely people at mi-comms sent us the DVD. The DVD has 2 discs with 8 episodes and is 3+ hours long:
Postman Pat’s Great Big Party
Postman Pat Takes The Bus
Postman Pat & The Toy Soldiers
Postman Pat & The Tuba
Postman Pat & The Greendale Rocket
Postman Pat & The Barometer
Postman Pat Clowns Around
Postman Pat’s Pirate Treasure
As Yusuf has been a fan for a while he has already seen some of these episodes on separate DVDs’ so did get a bit distracted when he was watching one he had already seen. But he did enjoy seeing episodes that he hasn’t seen. He said “Mummy, Daddy a new one!” Our youngest boy who is 1 in October enjoyed the theme tune especially.
If you have a Postman Pat fan in your household I would recommend this DVD!!! For more information and products visit www.postmanpat.com
Please note we received the DVD in exchange for a honest review. This review is mine and the boys opinion!

Review of The Bopps on Nick. Jr
22 Jul

Morning All,
This is my first review so please be gentle! I was sent two video clips of The Bopps and we all watched this morning. The Bopps is a sketch type programme with StanBopp and KeithBopp. At the end of the programme there is a song. The first video was about a squirrel where cheeky StanBopp pretends to be a squirrel so he can get lots of nuts too eat! KeithBopp goes away and when he comes back he realises that the ‘squirrel’ is not a squirrel and it is in fact StanBopp! The 2nd clip was a song about Breakfast it was catchy and Yusuf said I like toast and chesse for breakfast! So it’s good that it raises awareness.
Yusuf (who is 3 and a half) watched the programme from start to finish and he was not distracted, which means he enjoyed it! Myself and Mummy also found it entertaining, chuckling a few times. Even Zakariyah (9 months old) got some enjoyment from it. When any music came on , he stood up and looked and enjoyed the sounds.
Conclusion: It’s a great show that can be enjoyed by children pre school age and even by adults too. It has catchy songs and the programme is a lot of fun. At the end of the programme Yusuf said “Mummy that was funny!”
The Bopps is on The Wake Up slot every morning at 7:35 on Nick Jr. (Sky 615, Virgin 715 and Talk Talk 318.)
Please let me know if you have any comments or questions especially as this is my first review!
Please note that these are just my opinion. This is a personal review I do not work for anyone. I am not compensated to provide opinion on this product. The views and opinion expressed on this review are purely mine.
